GREELEY, Colo. (Weld County D.A.) – A Weld County man faces life in prison after being convicted in February of six charges in a child sex assault case. A judge sentenced Charles Young-Hicks, 26, Thursday to 37.5 years to life in the Colorado Department of Corrections. Detectives with the Greeley Police Department started investigating Young-Hicks in April of 2018, after a child victim disclosed to an adult that the defendant had sexually assaulted her. During the investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at the defendant’s Weld County residence and seized his electronics, where they also found child pornography. Greeley police arrested him in January of 2019, after a 9-month long investigation. Earlier this year, a jury found him guilty of: one count of Sexual Assault on a Child: Position of Trust-Victim less than 15 and as part of a Pattern of Abuse, two counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children, one count of Obscenity, one count of Child Abuse, and one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Child.
