Man sentenced to 51 years in prison for the murder of his mother(PDF, 197KB) .
GREELEY, Colo. (Weld County D.A.)–On Thursday, January 18th, 2024, a man was sentenced to prison for murdering his mother in Eaton, CO.
Gabriel Faudoa, 34, attacked and murdered his mother June Faudoa inside her home, stabbing her 54 times in 2021. Following the murder, the Defendant fled the scene, stealing his father's Chevy Impala. Law enforcement officers arrested the Defendant after spotting him walking back towards the crime scene. At trial, the Defendant asserted that he suffered from methamphetamine-induced psychosis during the murder.
A jury convicted the Defendant of Murder in the Second Degree, a class 2 felony, and Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft, a class 6 felony in November 2023.
Deputy District Attorney Travis Winter said at the sentencing hearing, “this is not merely a case about drug abuse or making an isolated ‘poor decision.’ This is a case of evil, pure and simple.”
The Defendant was sentenced to the maximum possible term of fifty-one years in the Department of Corrections. He was sentenced to forty-eight (48) for Murder in the Second Degree, which will run consecutively to a three (3) year sentence for Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft.
